January 2013

Hello from Buxton.  Looking  forward to a great year.  Below are some pictures of Tim’s new project, it is called ” raising the roof in Avon”.  Tim is busy  taking the roof off this house and adding a new level.

The views are going to be spectacular.  Here are a few before and demo shots. ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

November 30, 2012

This is a job Tim did right before Sandy blew in.  This house is called Creed’s Hill.  This is actually the second time Tim has roofed these two houses the first time was after hurricane Emily in 1992.  Below his the history of the house per the owner.

The original Creeds Hill was built in 1878 at Creeds Hill which was/is located behind (east) of the Frisco campground. The Gov’t later discovered they did not have a lease on the property so they built our station in 1914 or 1919 not sure. After WW2 they decommissioned Creeds Hill and sold it at auction when my dad purchased it. In 1915 the U.S. Lifesaving Service was merged with the Revenue Cutter Service to create the U.S. Coast Guard. I believe our Station was built as a U.S. Coast Guard Station rather than U.S.Lifesaving Station due to merger in 1915. It has U.S.Coast Guard carved in the front porch header. This could of been at anytime though so not really definitive. C Peters

Hurricane Irene Things have been pretty hectic since my last post.  Hatteras Island was hit by Hurricane Irene. After making sure everyone in the family and our neighbors were secure Tim started checking on the cottages we have worked on.Luckily most damage has been minor here in Buxton and south with only a few exceptions.   The folks on the sound side in Avon and the tri villages are a different story lots of damage from flooding. Tim has been busy doing roofs, roof repairs, and lots of underpinning & insulation.  Here are a few pictures of the storm.
